Midweek Message, August 30, 2017

And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:40

Hurricane Harvey has wreaked havoc across much of Texas. I am sure you have seen photos of the devastating flooding in Houston. You might recall our collecting flood buckets last year. We are going to do that again along with health kits. These have both been requested by our United Methodist Disaster Relief Team. I will be sending the list of items for the buckets and health kits as soon as I receive them from the Disaster Team. Collections will begin this week.

Of course, monetary donations are always helpful. They will be sent directly to the Disaster Relief Coordinators so that they can be put to use immediately.

In my conversation with the Disaster Relief Coordinator, she mentioned that they still are in need of recovery teams here in Florida from Hurricane Matthew and Hermione. She said they have received a grant for continued relief, but are lacking volunteers. I am pursuing getting a work team together for a trip this fall somewhere in Florida to assist. If you are interested in going, please call me at the church office. (772-231-1661 ext 301)

Peace,

Cliff
